Showing of “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am” at Lorain Library

The Lorain Public Library System has announced several programs planned in celebration of Toni Morrison Day!
In 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 325, which officially designates Feb. 18, the birthday of the Nobel-prize-winning author, as Toni Morrison Day in Ohio.
Morrison was born and raised in Lorain and worked for Lorain Public Library System for a short time until she was fired for spending time reading the books she was meant to be shelving.
The public in encouraged to attend a number of free programs at the Main Library, 351 W. Sixth St. in downtown Lorain.
Celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Sundance Festival and theatrical release of the film, which was made with the help of Morrison and features photos from the Lorain Public Library System archives.
