Sempre Libera: Finding Freedom and Feminism in La Traviata

April 12, 2022 @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm

This panel offers a fresh perspective on La Traviata, and explores thematic connections to contemporary life in Toledo, by examining the character arc of Violetta, a powerful woman in a culture dominated by men, in the bloom of her life yet facing impending death. Violetta’s lifelong pursuit of freedom on her own terms is reflected in the opportunities and challenges facing women and femmes today, and Toledo Opera is proud to engage artists, scholars, and Toledo community thought leaders in this important beyond-the-stage conversation.
