Letters From Home: Ohioans & Their Wartime Correspondence

May 15, 2023 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Attend the “Letters from Home: Ohioans & Their Wartime Correspondence” program at the Local History Center on Monday, May 15th at 5pm. Speaker Kelly D. Mezurek will talk on how letters served as the main source of communications between soldiers, nurses, and other military support personnel and their communities during the American wars of the 18th through mid-20th centuries. This program illuminates how private wartime letters provide insight into the personal, lived experiences of Ohioans from the earliest days of statehood to the Vietnam War, and how, through their own words, we might better understand the transformative nature of war on American society, and how society reacted to and affected U.S. military actions.

Kelly D. Mezurek is a professor of history at Walsh University, and the author of several books on Ohio history.

This is a FREE program, and no registration is required to attend. The Local History Center is located on the corner of High & Main Streets in Bryan, OH. To learn more, call 833-633-7323 x 285
