Invisible Ground will host a full tour of all eight of their Ground Immersive Historic Markers on Saturday, August 17th.

Athens-based multimedia project Invisible Ground utilizes audio, augmented reality, visual elements, and place-based storytelling to engage people in the history of their communities. The project does this through its series of Immersive Historic Markers around Athens County, a documentary public history storytelling podcast, and other community activities.

A full schedule of the tour can be found below, and starts at 10:00am with the self-driving portion of the tour. Visitors are encouraged to drive to several marker locations and special events during the day at Tablertown, Albany, Chauncey, and at The Ridges in Athens. That will be followed by a tour of the markers in Uptown Athens, meeting at Jackie O’s Brewpub at 4:00pm and then heading out shortly afterward. DORA is in place, so you can bring a beer with you! The walking tour will wrap up by 6:00pm or so, and there will be some free pizza and a cash bar back at the Jackie O’s Brewpub.

These tours are all free, but donations will be accepted for Invisible Ground and the Tablertown People of Color Museum.
