Franklinton History Day

Connect with local historians, bring documents for digitization and inclusion in our My History collection, and record your own oral history. Plus, view the complete “Downtown Franklinton” episode of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhoods series, learn about the Franklinton library’s history, play trivia for prizes, and more!

10am “Downtown-Franklinton” episode of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhoods View the complete “Downtown-Franklinton” episode to learn more about the founding of Franklinton and Columbus.

11-11:30am, 1-1:30pm, 3-3:30pm Franklinton Trivia Test your knowledge of Franklinton trivia, past and present, for a chance to win prizes!

12-1pm History of the Franklinton Library Learn about the history of the Franklinton Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, which first opened in 1943!

2pm-3pm Franklinton Memories Panel Q+A Franklinton community members will recall their memories of Franklinton, including favorite restaurants, activities, and school days. Audience members will be welcome to join the discussion!

3:45pm “Downtown-Franklinton” Columbus Neighborhoods Episode Watch the complete “Downtown-Franklinton” episode of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhoods series.

All day (10-4): Record an oral history Record an interview and share your memories with future generations. Our Local History & Genealogy team will preserve select interviews on My History, the library’s digital history collection.

Coloring pages: Relax with some crayons and coloring pages of local Franklinton landmarks, past and present!

Crafts: Drop-in to create a newspaper hat all day long!

Scan or Donate Historic Items: Our Local History and Genealogy Division will be on site to scan photos and documents to be added to our digital collection (My History) and accept donations for our archives.
