Florida Humanities: Teaching Brown v. Board of Ed. Webinar
April 11 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The Florida Press Educational Services is hosting a trio of events to help commemorate the 70th anniversary of one of the most pivotal Supreme Court decisions.
Throughout April, the Florida Press Educational Services will host community conversations across the state to discuss the lasting impact of Brown v. Board of Education. These programs are funded with a Florida Humanities Strategic Partnership Grant.
May 17, 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, which concluded that in the fields of public education the doctrine of separate but equal has no place. Separate education facilities are inherently unequal.
Florida Press Educational Services presents this professional development webinar for Florida teachers on teaching Brown vs. Board of Education using newspapers and other primary sources. Presenters will focus on aligning activities to the Florida standards and state guidelines.
This webinar will be presented by Josi Pushkin, Manager and Lead Curriculum Writer for the Tampa Bay Times Newspaper in Education.
Registration is required to attend. Please register here.
In addition to our own Brown @ 70 program, Ohio Humanities is excited to share events from our partners and other state humanities councils to celebrate this landmark decision!
