Explore the Little Smokies with Scioto Historical 4.0

October 8, 2022 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the creation of Roosevelt Game Preserve and explore the history of Ohio’s Little Smokies.

This free, public program marks the official launch of the new Scioto Historical Little Smokies Tour and will be led by Dr. Andrew Feight, professor of History at Shawnee State University, and Jenny Richards, Park Naturalist with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

The tour will be by caravan, beginning at the Shawnee State Park Lodge and include stops at the CCC Cabin and Museum at Turkey Creek Lake and the CCC Memorial at Roosevelt Lake. We’ll visit Hobey Hollow and examine the ruins of the old Preserve Headquarters and “Zoo” – what ought to be remembered as Ohio’s first state-run Nature Center.
