Deliber8: A Business and Corporate Ethics Training Program
February 24 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) will hold its 33rd annual international conference in Cincinnati, February 22-25 at the Hilton Netherland Plaza. Registration is now open for the conference, which will include a business ethics workshop, and an opening plenary called “Standing in the Gap: Doing Black History in Public,” featuring local curators and historians. The opening plenary and business ethics workshop are open to the public!
With a focus on ethical reasoning and deliberation, this program helps leaders clarify how to make tough ethical decisions and foster a culture of moral responsibility in their organizations. This event is certified for PSR Credit by the Accountancy Board of Ohio.
Participants are invited to bring codes of conduct or statements of values from their own organizations to better learn how to understand, apply, and even improve them. This one-day program provides conceptual tools for moral reasoning (such as the 8 Key Questions approach developed by James Madison University) and activities such as case analysis and code of conduct review.
Presenters include Dr. Deborah Mower (Director, The Center for Practical Ethics), Dr. Christian Early (Director, Ethical Reasoning in Action), and Ethan Davis (Assistant Director, The Center for Practical Ethics. With plenty of time for networking, discussion, and hands-on guidance from ethics experts, participants gain a robust set of tools and information to better navigate ethical challenges in their organizations and professional life. Attendees are also invited to judge at the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl National competition and interact with some of the nation’s premier students to provide real-world expertise and leadership as they grapple with complex ethical cases. Volunteers are provided training on the format, process, and expectations and will judge the very first round of the National competition.
