Defining American Liberty: New Perspectives on the Fort Gower Resolves
November 9 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Join the Southeast Ohio History Center for a one-day conference commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Fort Gower Resolves!
On November 5, 1774, six months before the first shots of the American Revolution were fired at Lexington and Concord, a group of Virginian officers who had served in Lord Dunmore’s Army gathered at Fort Gower, above the confluence of the Ohio and Hocking Rivers, to consider the grievances of British America and draft a series of resolves in response.
