Cannabis Americana Exhibit Opening

April 20 @ 1:00 pm 5:00 pm

Visit the Cannabis Museum in Athens, Ohio for the opening of their exhibit, “Cannabis Americana pt. 1 , The Golden Age of Cannabis Medicine & The End of the Hempire” on April 20th!

The exhibit will open in conjunction with their annual Community Hemp Fair. Learn about the history of cannabis, from the introduction of Cannabis indica as a botanical medicine until the medicine was regulated out of the pharmacy. The story of Cannabis medicine parallels the history of Cannabis sativa, or hemp, in The End of the Hempire, as hemp goes from being an agricultural commodity to a vile threat to civilized society.

The exhibit will explore the American relationship with Cannabis before prohibition, as industrial hemp and medicine. It will include the forces that led up to prohibition, how that was accomplished, and reflect on the long term effects it has had on American society.

Stay tuned for updates!

This exhibit was supported in part by an Ohio Humanities Spark Grant.
